We did it

I want to give a huge thank you to the voters of Buncombe County for showing up for me on Election Day and to my supporters and volunteers for all the hours you dedicated to promoting my candidacy and encouraging people to vote.

Though I won my race to represent you as the next Senator for North Carolina’s 49th District, the rest of yesterday’s election results are still trickling in. Several important races in North Carolina remain undecided, but the picture at state level is clear: We will continue to have the leadership of Democratic Governor Roy Cooper and the General Assembly will remain under Republican control. While Democrats picked up one seat in the Senate, we lost four in the House.

As your newly elected State Senator, I will go to Raleigh determined to fight for fairness, the dignity of North Carolina’s working families, and our environment. Though our government is divided, it is my sincere hope that we can find some common ground, move beyond obstructionism, and legislate in the best interests of the people of our state.

Again, I thank each of you for your support, and I look forward to hearing from you, learning from you, and serving you in the years to come.
