This past summer, a court identified Senate Districts 48 and 49 as having been unconstitutionally gerrymandered to benefit Republicans. The court ordered our local State Senate Districts be redrawn, along with dozens of other districts across the state. The legislature approved its new maps in September and the court-approved them on October 28.
District 49 has changed, though it still consists of most of Buncombe County and the entire City of Asheville, including my neighborhood in West Asheville. This means that I can continue this campaign to represent you in Senate District 49.
Together we will take on climate change and restore environmental protections, expand Medicaid, and free Asheville and Buncombe County from the restraints of Raleigh so that we can enact a local living wage law, adopt local environmental laws, and raise much-needed revenue.
I ask for your support to help make a better Buncombe for all of us. Let me know how you’d like to help. You can volunteer to talk to voters in person or via phone, set up a meet-and-greet with your friends and family, make a donation, and more. I appreciate your support!
I look forward to seeing you and getting to know new District 49 residents in the run-up to the March 3 primary.
