This week, I was endorsed by Lillian’s List — an organization that works to elect women who will champion reproductive freedom and equity for women. I am humbled and honored to have received their endorsement. I seek to join a long line of progressive women who have represented Buncombe County, starting with Lillian Exum Clement – who was elected in 1920 before women could even vote and for whom Lillian’s List is named – and continuing through to Rep. Susan Fisher and Sen. Terry Van Duyn today.
We are proud to endorse such amazing women this early in the cycle. These women are passionate, committed, and their experience will bring so much to the state of North Carolina. We know they have the plans and the grit to win in 2020! – Sarah Preston, Executive Director for Lillian’s List
Lillian’s List also makes sure that the candidates they endorse have a strategic plan to win. My plan is to mobilize an army of supporters and volunteers who want a cleaner environment and meaningful climate policy, Medicaid expansion and better policies to tackle health and equity, and the ability of local governments to meet the needs of their residents without interference from Raleigh.
As women, our right to control our own bodies is under attack in the courts and in statehouses across the nation, including here in North Carolina. As part of its endorsement process, Lillian’s List confirms that each candidate will uphold progressive values and fight for reproductive freedom. As your next State Senator, I will be unwavering in my support for a woman’s right to choose.
